Smith Medical Clinic offers medical care at no cost for low-income uninsured neighbors in Georgetown County. We provide excellent care and treat each patient who comes through our door with compassion and respect.
A Look Back at Our Beginnings
From a Trailer and a Few Volunteers to a Tradition and Two Locations
Smith Medical Clinic was established in 1985 by Dr. Cathcart Smith and his wife, Nancy, in an 8-foot wide trailer with office and medical equipment from Dr. Smithโs former medical office. Initially, Dr. Smith recruited five retired doctors and a dozen nurses to volunteer at the clinic. This volunteer model has become a Smith Clinic tradition. Today, over 160 volunteers working in two locations provide complete medical care at no cost for over 1,300 uninsured Georgetown County residents a year.
Our Services
Smith Free Medical Clinic is your medical home. We offer many services in-house, including primary care and vaccinations. We also have a network of partners we can refer patients to for specialty care.
